MACHINERY DIRECTIVE 2006/42/EC

Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

The requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC regarding machine safety shall apply to the products of the engineering industry, in particular to all connecting components, mechanisms, parts, accessories, etc. This Directive describes in detail the requirements for the manufacturer, importer, supplier, seller for applying CE mark. The requirements for the quality of the equipment and the materials used assume the provision of health safety and the exclusion of accidents during operation. This Directive takes into account all components of the equipment — from cables, chains, mechanical structures, electrical circuits, controls to lighting, ergonomics, warning signs and much more. It also sets out all the assessment procedures that products must undergo during the compliance assessment.

In order to apply the CE mark on the products of the machine building industry, it is necessary to pass a conformity check on other Directives additionally, for example, the Low Voltage Directive or Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive, each of which, in turn, also has a wide list of requirements. Only after passing all compliance procedures the admission of products to the EU markets shall be allowed.
